Juan Carlos Ferrero will play fellow Spaniard Pablo Andujar in the final of the Mercedes Cup after both players came through their respective semi-final matches on Saturday.
Former world number one Ferrero rallied to beat Federico del Bonis of Argentina 3-6 6-4 6-4.
Playing in his first tournament for two months due to injury, the world number 85 showed plenty of guts and determination to battle back from a set and a break down.
“The victory today was very important because I’m coming back from injury and winning four matches in a row, getting some rhythm and happiness and confidence,” said Ferrero.
“The key for me today was mentally staying positive all the time.”
Andujar, who saved seven of 11 break points, was also taken to three sets in his match before seeing off big-serving Pole Lukasz Kubot 6-4 3-6 6-4.
In their only previous encounter on the ATP Tour, in the opening round in Barcelona in 2007, Ferrero had to retire after three games because of injury.
Ferrero will be playing for his 16th career title in his 34th final.
