St Kilda scrape past Brisbane Lions to record their first win of the 2011 AFL season, while Shaun Marsh spanks Shane Warne in the Indian Premier League, in front of Liz Hurley, and Real Madrid captain Sergio drops the Spanish Cup.

THEY’LL TAKE THE FOUR POINTS

Winless from three matches, you’d think St Kilda coach Ross Lyon would have crawled over broken glass to achieve a win over Brisbane Lions at the Gabba last night.

The Saints didn’t have to go that far, but they sure had a fight on their hands against the Lions – who themselves are tipped for some pain in 2011.

St Kilda led then trailed, then led, then trailed, but showed the fight that has made them such a great side over the past two seasons as they kicked clear in the final term to win 13.11 (89) to 11.10 (76) in front of 22,520 fans.

C’MON SHANE, SHE’S WATCHING

Shane Watson was there. Shaun Marsh was there. Shane Warne was there. And so was Liz Hurley. So you might have expected Warnie to lift with his good friend cheering him from the sidelines.

But no, it was Marsh, another Aussie, who stole the show in the Indian Premier League overnight.

Shaun Marsh hammered 71 off 42 balls as Kings XI Punjab crushed Warne’s Rajasthan Royals by 48 runs, recording their their third win in a row in the process.

Shaun Tait grabbed three scalps and Watson two, but that did little to halt the Kings’ momentum.

WIN THE TROPHY, LOSE THE TROPHY

One can only imagine the feeling Sergio Ramos had in the pit of his stomach as he saw 15kg of steel plummet forward off the top of his head.

Actually, the Read Madrid star was probably feeling pretty giddy after his side’s Copa del Rey triumph so perhaps it didn’t register.

But the club’s celebrations were tarnished somewhat after Ramos dropped the trophy they had just won. To make matters worse, he dropped it from a bus. To make matters worse again, the bus then ran over Tthe trophy.
