The Falcon women’s track & field team performed well in less than ideal conditions at the Phil Esten Challenge on Friday at UW-La Crosse.

Battling strong winds a cold temperatures, the Falcons finished in fifth place scoring 58.5 points. Four other WIAC teams competed in the meet – Oshkosh (199), La Crosse (121), Eau Claire (46) and Stout (20.5).

The Falcons had one first place finisher. Megan Belger (Bloomer, Bloomer) took the top spot in the 200 in 25.3. Alyssa Rasmussen (Delano, MN, Delano) finished third in 25.89.

In the 1500, Leah Korf (Oakdale, MN, Tartan) was second in 4:51.25 and Katie Rydeen (Osceola, Osceola) was fourth in 4:58.08. The Falcons had three runners score points in the 400 hurdles. Alexandra Radtke (Hayward, Hayward) was second in 1:11.34,Jessie Behrman (River Falls, River Falls) was sixth in 1:13.97 and Amanda Marske (Sarona, Spooner) was eighth in 1:14.74.

In the 5,000 Rochelle Johnson (Centerville, MN, Centennial) finished sixth in 21:12.75 and Faith Harris (River Falls, River Falls) was seventh in 21:16.65.

Kayla Hillman (Shell Lake, Shell Lake) had another strong effort in the poor weather conditions in her specialty – the pole vault. She placed fourth with a leap of 10-8.

The Falcon 4×400 relay team of Brooke Riches (Plymouth, MN, Robbinsdale), Kari Magur (Altoona, Altoon), Radtke and Marske placed seventh in 4:23.75.

The Falcons will next compete in the Winona State Easter Invitational on Friday.
