The Falcon volleyball team had its first practice of the 2011 season on Friday at the Karges Center.

Coach Patti Ford is in her 20th season at UWRF and she has a 457-247 career record.

The Falcons return 13 letter winners from last year’s team that finished 20-13 overall and 3-5 in WIAC play. Middle hitter Erin Green returns after being named to the 2010 All-WIAC team. She also earned honorable mention to last year’s AVCA All-America team. Also back is outside hitter Danielle Gibbemeyer who earned honorable mention to last year’s All-WIAC team.

The Falcons open their 2011 season on Sept. 1 when they play UW-Oshkosh and Wisconsin Lutheran at the Northwestern College Tournament in St. Paul, Minn. The team’s first home match is Sept. 14 when the Falcons host Northland College at 7 p.m., at the Karges Center.
