Ryder Named WIAC Softball Player of the Week – Video Added
Sport Articles April 27th. 2011, 4:37amCenterfielder Amanda Ryder (Menomonie, WI, Menomonie) helped the Falcons to two WIAC wins last week and has been named the WIAC Player of the Week according to league Sports Information Director, Matt Stanek.
Ryder, 5-6, helped the Falcons to 12-3 and 9-8 wins over UW-Stevens Point on April 21 at Ramer Field. She finished 5-for-6 at the plate for a .833 average. In the first game she was 3-for-3 with a run scored and five RBI. Ryder singled in the first and third innings to knock in a run each time and then hit a three-run homer in the sixth. In game two, she was 2-for-3 with a run scored and three RBI. She hit a three-run homer in the first inning and finished with a single in the fourth. Ryder handled three chances in the field without an error.
The sophomore leads the Falcons in hitting with a .512 average. She has four doulbes, four homers and 15 RBI. She also has a team-best .902 slugging percentage for the 17-12 Falcons. UWRF is 8-2 in WIAC play and in first place in the conference standings.
Thursday the Falcons are scheduled to play a WIAC doubleheader at UW-Eau Claire with action starting at 4 p.m. On Saturday the Falcons are scheduled to play UW-Oshkosh at 2 p.m., and on Sunday they are scheduled ot play UW-Whitewater at noon. Both doubleheaders will be at Ramer Field.
