Wladimir calls for respect

Wladimir Klitschko believes David Haye will be made to pay for showing him a lack of respect when the pair clash in Hamburg on July 2.

Build-up to the mega-money fight at the Imtech Arena is well under way, with four belts up for grabs on the night itself.

Haye previously stated that the Klitschko brothers “have spoilt the reputation of heavyweight boxing for too long and it’s time for somebody to show people what it used to be about: excitement, knockouts, personality, and risk-taking. I believe I’m the guy to bring all that back on 2 July.”

Americans no longer dominate tennis

Tennis News No Comments »

LONDON — Andy Roddick put a positive slant on it on Monday but the lack of an American man or woman in the top 10 of the world rankings underlined just how much the balance of power in tennis has shifted across the Atlantic.

Nadal thumps Baghdatis in Madrid

Tennis News No Comments »

World number one Rafael Nadal began his quest for a third clay title in less than a month with a 6-1 6-3 drubbing of unseeded Cypriot Marcos Baghdatis in the Madrid Open second round on Wednesday.

The 24-year-old Spaniard, who won back-to-back tournaments in Monte Carlo and Barcelona last month, did not face a single break point on his serve and converted his first match point when he whipped a trademark forehand winner down the line.

The victory took his record on the red dust since 2005 to 187 wins and only six defeats and set up a last-16 meeting against Argentine Juan Martin Del Potro.

The resurgent former world number four and 2009 U.S. Open champion dismissed Croat Marin Cilic 6-3 6-0 as he continued his comeback from a wrist injury.
